From Survivor to Advocate: Using Lifestyle Medicine to Transform Our Health and Our Community
with Dr. Faith Nyong
ABOUT THIS SESSION
Lifestyle medicine has the power to change lives, but the true challenge lies in daily implementation. This presentation shares how lifestyle medicine can move beyond information to become a transformative way of life, personally and within communities.
Through personal experience and community-based work, this session highlights simple, sustainable changes, like plant-forward eating, increasing movement, managing stress, improving sleep, and building supportive relationships, that support healing, improve quality of life, and reduce risk factors for cancer and other chronic conditions. It also explores the unique role cancer survivors play as voices of influence, with real examples of people creating a ripple effect of health and hope in their families, churches, and communities, and ways to expand this work by partnering with organizations such as the American Cancer Society.
